AMPP Celebrates Milestone with Formation of 100th Chapter
While at this week’s conference in New Orleans, AMPP’s Membership Program Committee approved the creation of three new chapters in Kentucky, Iraq, and Australia. With the inclusion of these chapters, Australia was officially designated as AMPP’s 100th chapter, symbolizing the organization’s broad reach across continents.
As part of this week’s conference, AMPP’s Southeast Louisiana Chapter—in collaboration with EMERG and AMPP Cares—joined forces with a dedicated team of volunteers to assemble 1,000 Corrosion Toolkits, or cKits, on the Exhibit Hall floor. These kits are aimed at educating high school students about the science behind our industry.

2024 Whitney Lecture: Corrosion Under Control? Challenges for the Industry
On Tuesday, Dr. Sannakaisa Virtanen presented her 2024 Whitney Lecture, “Corrosion under Control? Challenges for Materials Performance Towards Safe and Sustainable Society.” In her remarks, Dr. Virtanen discussed aspects of corrosion and protection related to transportation, energy technologies, and health.
“Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion,” the “Modernization of Corrosion and Coating Research,” and “Corrosion of Reinforced Concrete Structures: Coatings and Concrete” are among the symposia options on Thursday’s closing day of AMPP’s 2024 show.
