Chapter Election Schedule Update

Starting this year, AMPP Chapter Officer terms will align with the calendar year and begin on January 1 and end on December 31. The timeline for nominations has shifted to the Fall and nominations are planned to open on September 15, 2024. Keep an eye out for future communications on how you can become involved in your chapter for the next term. AMPP would also like to thank all our hard-working volunteers for their efforts and contributions to the success of our chapters and for extending their terms this year to allow the change to go smoothly.

AMPP Chapters Continue to Grow

New AMPP chapters have launched, bringing our total to 103. Chapters are now active in Guatemala and Arkansas, and a new student chapter has started at the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco, totaling 26 student chapters. Driving Change: AMPP Advocacy Day 2024 Shapes the Industry's Future

Earlier this month, Washington, D.C., was abuzz with energy as over 50 industry leaders convened for AMPP Advocacy Day. This event, organized by the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP), brought together stakeholders to advocate for legislative issues crucial to the materials protection and performance field.

Day One: Orientation and Opening Reception

Participants gathered at the Courtyard Marriott Navy Yard for orientation and networking. AMPP’s CEO, Alan Thomas, emphasized the importance of advocacy in advancing the industry's interests. The evening's opening reception at the Silver Social venue provided a relaxed setting for participants to connect and build relationships.

Day Two: Senate and House Meetings

Participants engaged with legislators on Capitol Hill, guided by AMPP's legislative priorities. Sam Conner, a director on the AMPP Board, highlighted the significance of advocacy in driving meaningful change within the industry.

AMPP Legislative Priorities:

1. Increase Funding for the DoD Corrosion Policy and Oversight Office (CPO):** Vital for protecting assets and ensuring military readiness.
2. Support the Bridge Corrosion Prevention and Repair Act (H.R. 4064/S. 1932):** Ensures the maintenance and repair of critical infrastructure.
3. Advocate for the Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act (H.R. 1477/S. 722):** Expands 529 savings plans for workforce training and credentialing programs.

International Agenda:

AMPP advocates also met with international stakeholders to explore opportunities for collaboration and partnership, emphasizing the industry's global reach and commitment to sustainable development. View the full article here.
