AMPP Gujarat Launch & CCM-2025 Draws 200+ Attendees
The AMPP Gujarat Chapter was officially launched on April 24, 2025, in Vadodara in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) Baroda Chapter, coinciding with International Corrosion Awareness Day and featuring a one-day workshop on Corrosion Control and Monitoring (CCM-2025). The event drew over 200 participants from academia, industry, and government, with keynotes from Shri Chaitanya Desai (MLA) and Mr. Saugata Sahu (IOCL), who underscored the urgency of corrosion management in Gujarat’s industrial and coastal landscape. The workshop featured technical sessions led by leading experts. It marked the formal induction of the Chapter’s new leadership, which is committed to advancing corrosion science through training, outreach, and collaboration.
Future Leaders Shine at Central Florida Chapter Event
AMPP Central Florida Chapter’s April 16th general membership meeting was hosted by the Corrosion Research Laboratory at the University of South Florida (USF). The meeting was held at USF’s campus in Tampa, FL.
The Chapter meeting was attended by more than 30 members and included a student-led laboratory tour with demonstrations detailing some of their recent research efforts. The tour included five stations covering topics such as corrosion damage projection of steel in concrete, localized corrosion studies of steel in concrete, non-destructive evaluation and corrosion mitigation of external post-tensioned tendons, corrosion of aluminum and anodized aluminum, and advanced corrosion characterization methods. After the tour, lunch was catered by USF Dining | Collegiate Hospitality during the networking and Q&A with the students and members.
Says Chapter Chair and meeting organizer, Stephanie Decker, “I’ve been fortunate to attend great Chapter meetings across the country; this meeting was a favorite as we had the opportunity to learn from students, directly from all of our futures. The feedback from attendees, including members and students, was overwhelmingly positive. Our Chapter will continue to work to build relationships with the universities in our region, increasing engagement with student members.”
