AMPP Introduces Fresh Series of AMPPiTheater Presentations
This week, several interactive presentations will be held at the Exhibit Hall’s AMPPiTheater sites. Tuesday’s topics include corrosion on the soil-facing side of tank bottoms; new stone wool insulation with a built-in corrosion inhibitor; thermal insulation coating (TIC) technology to prevent CUI; and modernizing steel construction with epoxy fire protection.
Whitney Award Winner Delivers Lecture on Materials Behavior
Dr. Sanna Virtanen is the 2024 recipient of AMPP’s prestigious Wilis Whitney Technical Achievement Award. In Tuesday’s lecture, she will discuss current and possible future challenges for materials behavior, especially corrosion resistance, under harsh conditions.
Tuesday’s Forums Include Pipeline Safety, CUI Discussions
AMPP attendees can take in one or more of Tuesday’s forums, which include sessions on pipeline safety, corrosion under insulation, and asset protection using zinc coatings. All sessions are held inside the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
Master Painters Institute Introduces Decision Tree Tools Guide
The Master Painters Institute (MPI) is introducing new solutions to streamline the process of specifying coatings. The MPI Decision Tree Tools platform is an interactive digital guide prompting users to select the most suitable technologies for a commercial or architectural project. Guests can see these tools in action at MPI’s booth (1454) in the Exhibit Hall!

Opening Reception Celebrates Mardi Gras State of Mind
The 2024 conference week commenced with gusto at Sunday’s Opening Night Reception. The theme, Mardi Gras Mambo, showed up throughout the ballroom amid colorful lights, decorations, and regional cuisine. A large, lit “AMPP & Carboline” sign celebrated the co-sponsorship across the room’s center.

Tuesday’s AMPP technical sessions include dozens of symposia covering topics such as assessing DC stray current interference without potential interruption; geothermal scaling and corrosion; and shortcomings in testing oil and gas corrosion inhibitors.

Get ready for a thrilling adventure, as the High Rollin' For a Harley contest is back! To play, attendees can visit the exposition booths of each sponsor, where they collect a playing card. Once all cards are collected, head to the Harley on the Exhibit Hall floor and complete an entry form. We’ll draw a winner at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday!
