Live from the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado, the second AMPP Annual Conference + Expo climbed to new heights with more than 5,700 attendees and 380 exhibitors in 2023. Next year’s flagship corrosion and coatings industry event takes place from March 3-7, 2024, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the call for presentation topics is already underway.
CoatingsPro Honors Winners of 2023 Contractor Awards
In an Exhibit Hall ceremony, CoatingsPro Magazine honored its 2023 Contractor Awards winners. Multiple awards were presented in Commercial Concrete, Commercial Roof, Industrial Concrete, Industrial Steel, and Specialty Project categories, while one winner was awarded for Work It Safe and Contractor/Crew Most Valuable Player (MVP).

AMPP’s Honoree Night Celebrates 2023 Awards Recipients
In 2022, the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) launched a new annual awards program consisting of 12 categories for industry recognition. For 2023, winners of these awards were honored in Wednesday’s celebration at the Hyatt Regency.

2023 AMPP Student Poster Session Winners Honored in Ceremony
The best student posters earned first-place, second-place, and third-place awards in three categories, and a best undergraduate poster was honored, as well. Winning students received monetary prizes sponsored by BP, and first-place winners will publish a Poster Award Research Letter in CORROSION journal, the sponsoring publication.
Integrated External Corrosion Management Offers New Paradigm
In a Wednesday symposia session, Thomas Hayden, Joseph Mazzella, Keith Parker, and Christophe Baete explained how their Integrated External Corrosion Monitoring (IECM) platform offers a novel framework for pipeline operators to model, identify, and optimize external corrosion risks and costs while using a data-driven approach.

AMPP Names Alan Thomas as New CEO, Starting in April
AMPP, a global nonprofit representing more than 32,000 members in the materials, corrosion, and coatings industries, has announced the selection of Alan Thomas as its new chief executive officer. He takes over as CEO effective April 1, 2023, replacing Bob Chalker.
